About the Bursary Provider
SANS The South African National Society (SANS) is all about celebrating and preserving South Africa’s rich historical, natural, and cultural heritage. They collaborate with various heritage organizations, including SAHRA and Amafa/Heritage KZN. The Killie Campbell Bursary is named in honor of Dr. Killie Campbell, a distinguished historian and collector, whose legacy lives on through the Killie Campbell Africana Library at UKZN.

About the Bursary Programme

Who can apply?

This opportunity is open to postgraduate students (Honours, Masters, or Doctorate) who are diving into History-related fields.

Focus area:

Your research should connect to South African history, with a preference for topics related to KwaZulu-Natal.

Study location:

You need to be enrolled at an accredited South African university.

💸 Bursary Value
Total: Up to R25,000.

Payments:

First installment (R12,500): Scheduled for September 2025, during a SANS monthly meeting.

Second installment (R12,500): This will be released after your supervisor submits a satisfactory report.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, you must:

Be a postgraduate student in a history-related discipline

Have a research topic focused on South African history

Be enrolled at a recognized South African university

Provide proof of registration/payment and your supervisor’s details
